The 3D scanner is suitable for scanning a variety of objects ranging in size, textures, and complexity. It works by rapidly firing lasers at the object which rebound and are captured to create a mesh. Meshes can then be cleaned, adjusted, and measured in VXElements to be used for redesign, prototyping, and design verification.

• Any solid objects.
• Shiny, multicoloured, or dark objects may have some difficulties being scanned.
• Dynamic objects will need to be held in place for a successful scan.
• Clear or shiny objects will need to be sprayed with talcum powder (available at the Garage), painted over, or covered with tape.
